Black Women in Early Childhood Collective Logo

Early life experiences of children of color can set the path for learning and success in life. The care and support that children receive from their families, their community and caregivers in the first years of their lives help to shape who they are and will become. Early childhood  is a critical time of developmental progress but also of vulnerability.  Young children who are Black, Brown, and Indigenous receive fewer of these early developmental protections in the American society and in the world. Policy, practice, and research efforts must prioritize ensuring that our children and families have access to equitable opportunities and eradicate barriers. Our children are our symbol of hope and the lifeline as our greatest contribution and legacy of unperilled strength and our roots as a people. BWECC centers its mission on providing consultation, outreach support, program development and high level appraisal of those ecological systems that move our children forward to sustaining  health, security and educational success.
